DENVER – St. Edward's baseball scored 29 runs on 34 hits Friday as it swept its doubleheader against Regis by scores of 12-3 and 17-1.

ROMEO CORTINA spearheaded the offensive outburst with five runs and five RBI.
BLAKE ALEXANDER went 5-for-8 with four runs and three RBI on a double, a triple, and a home run.
GABLE WHITACRE also homered for the Hilltoppers.

On the mound,
STUART SPRINGER (8-2) started game one and earned the win with three strikeouts in six innings of work.
BALLARD INFANTE (6-3) started game two and went five innings with three strikeouts for the victory.

St. Edward's (27-18) has won five of its last six games. Regis (25-20) is riding a five-game losing streak.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One (St. Edward's 12, Regis 3)
W – Springer (8-2) L – Gotsis (6-3)
- The Hilltopper offense struck early and often as a leadoff single from WILLIAM HAIRSTON sparked a four-run opening frame.
- Hairston struck again in the second inning with a RBI double and a run, giving SEU a 6-0 advantage.
- Regis scored three runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning to cut the lead in half.
- Whitacre's two-run home run in the fourth frame highlighted six unanswered runs for St. Edward's over the last five innings.Â

Game Two (St. Edward's 17, Regis 1 (7 innings))
W – Infante (6-3) L – Heibult (4-5)
- A RBI single from Alexander put St. Edward's on the board in the opening frame.
- The Hilltoppers hammered out 16 runs on 17 hits over the next four innings to put the game out of reach.
- Regis managed one run in the fifth frame to break up the shutout.

- Friday marks the first meeting between St. Edward's and Regis in program history.
- All nine of St. Edward's starters recorded multiple hits and scored at least one run.
