THE RUNDOWN
LUBBOCK, Texas –
It was a low-scoring affair Saturday at Hays Field as both clubs combined for four runs in the doubleheader. Lubbock Christian held on and took game one 2-1, and EVAN TUBBS, AUSTIN WEAVER, and JAKE DAVIS all played a role in the Hilltoppers' 1-0 shutout win in game two.

The twin bill split on day two results in a 2-2 series split in the final non-conference game of the regular season for SEU and they are now 12-23 all-time vs. LCU. The Hilltoppers and Chaps will meet again in Heartland Conference play April 27-28 in Austin, Texas.

Both clubs put up a run in the second inning of game one, but it remained a pitchers dual through the next three innings. TANNER LAWSON (3-2) and Chaps' (15-7) Rickey Contreras (3-1) both threw complete games with six strikeouts and one walk. However, Lawson gave up one extra hit that proved to be the difference in the loss for the Hilltoppers (12-9). In the bottom of the sixth, Ryan Rogers tripled to right center and was brought home courtesy of a single by James Hardberger for the go-ahead and ultimately, game-winning run.

Runs and hits came few and far in game two as another set of pitchers battled it out in the final game of the series. Tubbs (1-1) picked up his first collegiate career win after tossing 5.0 innings with four strikeouts and two hits. Davis notched his second save on the season after recording a new single-game career-high of four punch-outs in three innings of work, and Weaver did his part with one inning on the rubbed and one strikeout. Daniel Crooks (2-2) was charged the loss for LCU after setting down six batters in 7.1 innings pitched and Chandler Casey registered two strikeouts in 1.2 innings.

In the top of the sixth, WILLIAM HAIRSTON singled up the middle, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error by the catcher. That put infielder DEREK RAMOS in the position for a RBI sacrifice fly to give the Hilltoppers the only run of the contest.

HIGHLIGHTS
• WILLIAM HAIRSTON recorded his 32nd multiple hit game of his career with SEU in game two (10th of the season).
• ZACH SCHINDLER recorded his 9th multiple hit game of his career with SEU in game two (4th of the season).
• DEREK RAMOS is on an eight-game hitting streak.
• In Saturdays doubleheader, Hairston (3-for-8) and Schindler (3-for-7) logged three hits.
• Ramos' sacrifice fly was the only RBI for SEU in both games.
