THE RUNDOWN
FORT SMITH, Ark. –
The St. Edward's baseball team (14-13, 2-4) was swept in a doubleheader for the first time this season vs. Arkansas - Fort Smith (19-7, 5-1) Friday at Crowder Field. The Lions came from behind to steal game one 3-2 in walk-off fashion and continued to roll as they shutout the Hilltoppers in game two, 4-0.

Lions' Brandon Warner went 3-for-3 at the plate while driving in two runs including the game-winner in the eighth inning to take game one from the Hilltoppers, 3-2. SEU struck first in the second inning, but Warner responded with his first RBI single in the third. Two innings later, TJ GISELBACH drove in a run to help the visitors regain the lead, but Fort Smith tied the game again courtesy of an RBI sacrifice fly from Dion Williams. With the score knotted at two through seven innings, UAFS' pitcher Javon Rigsby retired three of the four batters he saw in the top of the eighth, and the home team struck quickly on offense with three consecutive singles highlighted by the walk-off knock from Warner to bring home the winning run.

Both starting pitchers threw a complete game, but Rigsby (3-1) claimed the win with 8.0 innings pitched and four strikeouts. JUAN CORTINA (2-5) was charged the loss with 7.0 innings of work under his belt and five punch-outs with three walks.

UAFS jumped on SEU early in game two and took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning after a solo shot from Troy Cahill. In the sixth frame the home team brought in a pair of insurance runs when Jace Pitchford went yard to cap the game at 4-0.

BLAKE HOLUB fell to 2-2 in his first complete game of his collegiate career throwing six innings and six strikeouts. Dawson Floyd improves to 6-2 on the year after his five-hit shutout where he sat down seven and handed out one free pass.
