THE RUNDOWN
AUSTIN, Texas –The St. Edward's baseball team (17-16, 5-7) recorded its third shutout on the year when they topped Rogers State (19-15, 5-7) 4-0 in game one Saturday at Lucian-Hamilton Field. However, the Hillcats bounced back with a 6-2 win in game two, to split the doubleheader and series.

TJ GISELBACH had a productive series vs. the Hillcats as he led the Hilltoppers with eight hits (8-for-13; .615), five runs scored, and four RBIs, including a 3-for-6 performance with three RBIs in Saturday's twin bill. Â Â
Â
Lawson (6-2) turned in his sixth complete game of the season, tossing seven strikeouts and walked two in game one. SEU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the first inning thanks to back-to-back RBI singles from Giselbach and

DEREK RAMOS home for a 3-0 lead, and Ramos yanked his fourth double of the season in the sixth to drive in the final run of the contest.
Â
Giselbach was responsible for driving in both runs for the Hilltoppers in game two with his RBI sacrifice fly in the first inning and a RBI single in the third. The Hillcats responded in the top of the fourth with a run however, and went on to score five more unanswered, highlighted by a three-run seventh inning to force the doubleheader split with a 6-2 victory.
EVAN TUBBS started on the bump for SEU, but only went 3.2 innings with one strikeout.
JAKE DAVIS (3-2) made his second appearance in the series, but was charged with the loss this time after throwing 5.1 innings with three strikeouts. RSU's Preston Whitten (2-1) picked up the win and Brock Knoten tallied his fourth save of the season.

THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Rob Penders on positives from the series vs. Rogers State …
"It's been tough. We just aren't performing the way we are capable of and the way that we want to so it's tough to look at the good side of things but there are some good things. We do have some guys getting some good at bats.
BLAKE HOLUB has been doing very well, Will [Hairston] and [Derek] Ramos, I mean we have guys doing it but we need to be more consistent and that's the hardest thing."
Â
Penders on what it takes to eliminate mistakes…
"It's hard to say. It just takes one weekend. You play with confidence one weekend and we just got to get a doubleheader sweep. That's the thing right now when you play this many doubleheaders they're hard to sweep. It's been a while since we've done that so hopefully we can get it done next weekend and kind of roll from there."
