AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward's baseball scored runs in all but two innings Friday as it dominated Missouri S&T, 13-1 in game one of a four-game series.
 
HUNTER COURSON led the offensive onslaught, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs and a RBI. WILLIAM HAIRSTON, ROMEO CORTINA, GABLE WHITACRE, BLAKE ALEXANDER and JACOB VASQUEZ recorded multiple hits as well.
 
On the mound, BRANDON BOONE earned his third win of the year. He pitched six innings of one-run, three-hit baseball with four strikeouts. JOSH GUERRA, EVAN TUBBS, and LUKE GIBBONS all provided scoreless relief.
 
St. Edward's (9-4) has won eight of its last nine games. Missouri S&T falls to 1-3 on the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Alexander opened the scoring with a RBI-double in the bottom of the second inning, and the Hilltoppers plated two more to make it 3-0.
• Whitacre gave St. Edward's a 5-0 lead in the third with two RBI's on a double down the leftfield line.
• Boone allowed only one hit over the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, but the Miners scored one run on a wild pitch in the sixth frame.
• St. Edward's closed out the game with seven runs over five innings to clinch the win.

 
HILLTOPPER NOTES

• The Hilltoppers are 5-1 all time against Missouri S&T and have won three straight games.
• As the leadoff hitter, Hairston has reached base in all 13 games and recorded a hit in nine straight games.
• Whitacre is riding an 11-game hitting streak.
• St. Edward's brought 21 different hitters to the plate in the victory.
