VICTORIA, Texas – St. Edward's baseball tallied 18 hits Tuesday, with seven going for extra bases, as the Hilltoppers rolled past UH-Victoria, 14-5.
 
WILLIAM HAIRSTON, GABLE WHITACRE, and HUNTER COURSON all led the way with three hits each, including two doubles for Hairston and home runs for Whitacre and Courson. Whitacre finished with a game-high four RBI and Courson led the team with three runs.
 
St. Edward's improves to 8-4. UH-Victoria drops to 2-2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Whitacre opened the scoring in the top of the first inning by driving in CARSON COX with a triple to right field.
• The Hilltoppers proceeded to score in every inning except the seventh and eighth, including multiple runs in the third, fifth, and sixth innings.
• UH-Victoria managed two runs in the third frame, two more in the fifth and one in the sixth.
• JACOB VASQUEZ made his second appearance of the season in the ninth inning to close out the game.

 
HILLTOPPER NOTES

• The Hilltoppers have won seven straight against the Jaguars and are 11-2 in the all-time series.
• Whitacre leads the team in triples (2), home runs (3), and RBI (16) this season.
• Head Coach Rob Penders is seven wins away from 400 career victories.
• Hairston has reached base in all 12 games this season and is on an eight-game hitting streak.
