LUBBOCK, Texas – St. Edward's baseball hit six home runs Friday on its way to a 23-9 win over Lubbock Christian in the series finale.
 
HUNTER COURSON led the charge with his fourth and fifth home runs of the season as he went 5-for-6 with four runs, three RBI and two doubles. ROMEO CORTINA, BLAKE ALEXANDER, JACOB VASQUEZ and TJ GISELBACH also went long for the Hilltoppers.
 
On the mound, BALLARD INFANTE (4-2) collected the win behind seven strikeouts over five innings of work. AUSTIN WEAVER and Vasquez provided the relief.
 
St. Edward's (22-14, 9-6 Heartland) has scored 50 runs in its last four games. Lubbock Christian (26-10, 9-3 Heartland) remains atop the conference standings, despite the loss.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Lubbock Christian's bats exploded first with five runs in the second inning.
• St. Edward's strung together five hits to score five runs in the third frame to tie the game, 5-5.
• The two teams exchanged single runs in the fourth inning to make it 6-6.
• GABLE WHITACRE led off the fifth frame with a double and Vasquez followed up with his second home run of the series to spark a four-run barrage.
• The Hilltoppers poured it on with 13 runs on five home runs in the final three frames.  

 
HILLTOPPER NOTES

• St. Edward's is 9-21 in the all-time series with Lubbock Christian.
• The Hilltoppers' offense produced top-10, single-game performances in at-bats, hits, RBI, doubles, home runs and total bases.
• SEU's last 20-run game came on April 8, 2016 with 22 against UA Fort Smith.
