Junior 2015: Went 8-1 in 14 starts and 17 appearances for a total of 85.2 innings of work…finished the year with an ERA of 2.84 with 64 strikeouts and 20 walks…ranked fifth in the Heartland Conference in innings pitched, and seventh in ERA and strikeouts…also finished fourth in the league in wins and starts…Struck out 11 batters against Panhandle State (4/18) and 10 against UA Fort Smith (4/3)…made two nine-inning appearances against UA Fort Smith (4/3) and at UT-Permian Basin (5/7).
Sophomore 2014: Made three appearances on the mound in his second year totaling 3.0 innings of work…made an appearance in the regional tournament against TAMU-Kingsville.
Freshman 2013: Made eight appearances on the mound for the Hilltoppers in his first season…pitched eight innings and had a 2.25 ERA…struck out nine batters on the season…had three strikeouts against Newman (02/16/13)…pitched two innings and gave up two hits during the NCAA DII World Series against Tampa (05/28/13).
Prep: Played baseball for four years while lettering two for Magnolia West High School and two for Don Bosco Preparatory HS…during his junior season he had a batting average of .467 and an ERA of 3.16…helped his team make a playoff appearance for the first time school history…in his senior season he had an ERA of 2.31 and a batting average of .435…helped his team reach the third round of the state playoffs…was a recipient of the Presidential Academic Award…also lettered in football…was a member of the yearbook staff.
Personal: Michael “Cameron” Stanton was born on June 20, 1994…son of Mike and Debbie Stanton of Magnolia, Texas…has two siblings: Mitchell and Karli…his father Mike played professional baseball for the Braves, Red Sox, Yankees, Nationals, Giants, Reds, Cubs, and Rangers…enjoys hunting, fishing, and motor sports…one of his biggest athletic thrills was helping Magnolia West High School to the playoffs for the first time.
