Junior 2015: Made 50 starts in 50 appearances for the Hilltoppers at catcher and designated hitter…ranked second on the team in batting, hitting .370 with 34 runs on 67 hits, and 34 RBI…tallied seven doubles and a pair of home runs…slugged .442 with an on-base percentage of .433…caught 14 runners stealing…Led the conference in catching runners stealing, ranked sixth in batting average, eighth in hits, and ninth on on-base percentage…went 3-for-4 with a double against Missouri S&T (2/14), scoring four runs and driving in one.
 
Sophomore 2014 (Stephen F. Austin): Appeared in 20 games, making 18 starts…registered a .214 batting average 15 hits, four doubles, one home run and 10 RBI.
 
Redshirt Freshman 2013 (Stephen F. Austin): Appeared in 43 games, making 34 starts…recorded a .283 batting average, 32 hits and 17 RBI…recorded 11 multi-hit games, including a 3-for-5 performance against Arlington Baptist.
 
Freshman 2012 (Stephen F. Austin): Appeared in three games, making two starts, before taking a redshirt due to injury.
 
Prep: Played his prep ball at Waco Robinson High School…hit .396 as a senior on a Rockets team that went 31-6 and finished as state runner-up…was named first-team all-state, first-team all-region, first-team all-district, and the district’s Co-Offensive most valuable player his senior season…also named to Waco Tribune-Herald Index…named first-team all-district and the district’s most valuable player after tallying a .420 batting average his junior season as he helped his team reach the regional semifinals.
 
Personal: Joseph Ryan Olson was born Nov. 20, 1992…son of Leo and Virginia Olson…has one sibling: Alesha (19)…plans to study Kinesiology at St. Edward’s with hopes of becoming a firefighter …also enjoys fishing, music, movies and the outdoors…biggest thrill was playing in the state tournament in Austin and playing live on ESPN.
