Diane Daniels was a professor of physical education at St. Edward’s University from 1970 to1988. During that time, she began the women’s athletic program coaching all of the women’s athletic teams (volleyball, basketball and tennis) until 1981. In 1985, the volleyball team advanced to the National Tournament. The tennis and volleyball teams also earned conference championships. Daniels was named Conference Coach of the Year (tennis) and Conference and District Coach of the Year (volleyball). Daniels passed away on Oct. 21, 1989. The St. Edward’s University softball field is named in her honor.
