A 1980 graduate of St. Edward’s, Latz lettered four years in baseball. Named Academic All-Conference all four years as well, he was team captain in 1980 – the same year he was named Most Valuable Player, first-team Big State Conference and runner-up for the honor of Big State Conference Player of the Year. In 1980 he was also named NAIA All-District First Team and NAIA Academic All-American. He’s in the Top 10 of all-time SEU single season pitching stats (in six categories) and in the Top 10 of all-time SEU career pitching stats (in seven categories). He holds SEU records for: complete games in a season (13); earned-run average in a season (1.67); career shutouts (seven); and is third in all-time games won (24). Today, Kelly is an Austin-based attorney and is on the board of directors of the Young Men’s Business League and United Cerebral Palsy of the Capital Area, Inc.  Winner of the 1991 Travis County Bar Association’s Public Service Award and the Austin Lawyers Care 1984 Pro Bono Award, Kelly also serves as a member of the Sports & Leisure Committee of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce.  He is the father of one son, Travis.
